Staying safe at Âéw¶¹´«Ã½

Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ is committed to making our campus a safe place for all without fear of harassment, crime or anti-social behaviour.

The video above contains advice from our security team on personal safety and protecting your property, including tips on keeping your hall of residence safe from crime:

  • Make it a habit to lock your room/flat doors and windows, even when you are at home
  • Do not leave doors propped open
  • Ask who is at your door before opening it
  • Know who you are letting in
  • Don’t allow strangers to “tailgate” / follow you in the halls of residence

Security team and police

Our partnership with Leicestershire Police helps keep our places safe.

We have a proactive 24/7 security team and a police officer dedicated to the campus, supported by the neighbourhood policing team working from Hinckley Road Police Station.

Members of our security team and the campus police officer regularly patrol halls of residence and campus buildings.

If you have witnessed an incident, contact our Security Team on 0116 2577642 (extension 7642) or at security@dmu.ac.uk, or visit them in the Estates Services building. Their reception is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you’re in an emergency, call the police on 999.

You can also Report an incident of harassment or sexual misconduct through our online form.

If you see something suspicious, report it.
