The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is now open and all postgraduate research students will soon be receiving an email with a unique link to complete it.

At Âéw¶¹´«Ã½, we are keen to ensure that all our postgraduate research students have the best possible experience – and in order to do this we need to know what they think works, and what could be improved.

Providing this feedback now helps us plan for the future. Previous responses have seen us:

  • Enable remote access to library resources
  • Increase valuable Research Impact Office (RIO) support in faculties
  • Boost researcher training provision through Res Journey
  • Open up extra PGR spaces across campus
  • Run Doctoral College showcases highlighting student work

A big focus recently has been on developing our PGR community with increased events, dedicated support and regular drop-in sessions with supervisors.

PRES is the only national survey of postgraduate researchers and so is the only way for us to compare how we are doing and to make changes that will improve your experience in the future. The more PGRs that take part the better we can do that.

Survey deadline: Wednesday, 7 May 2025

The survey link will come from Jisc and will take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Responses and feedback are confidential and all reporting will be entirely anonymous.

If you are a supervisor, we would appreciate you taking the time to remind your students to fill in the survey and give their feedback. Resource packs have been shared with Faculty Heads of Research Students with faculty-specific ‘you said, we did’ examples.
